1:50th Scale Peterbilt 335 Mechanics Truck
Presented here is the Peterbilt 335 with Mechanics body.
The fully modelled cab interior is finished in a light tan colour with contoured seats and fully detailed dashboard with printed guages. The cab doors can be opened but there is nothing to get hold of so they can be tricky to open if they are a tight fit. The paint finish is exceptional with painted rubber window seals and intricate silver trim along the body and cab frames.
The rear body contains a replicated air compressor and generator with non-opening storage compartments along the sides of the body, complete with tiny chromed handles. The floor of the deck has a textured anti-slip pattern whilst the upper surface where the crane is mounted has a black painted simulated anti-slip finish which is actually rough to the touch.

The rear of the truck has a work platform with photo-etched step and vice. Flexible electrical sockets have also been added and the winding drums are cast underneath the chassis. Floodlight holders and large grag handles have been added to each side of the body.

The upper storage compartments on the model open to reveal a host of modelled accessories including coiled wire and tools. Three cones and four wheel chocks are also supplied in the box along with a creeper. |
The front grill has an intricate photo etched pattern with satin black front bumper and painted engine locks and Peterbilt logo. The Kokosing logos on the bonnet sides are tiny and yet fully defined, as are the black stripes along the sides of the bonnet and cab doors. The front fenders are integrated into the bonnet with clear plastic headlight and amber painted indicator lights added.

The rear of the cab has a metal frame with photo-etched mesh screen protecting the rear window. Above the frame is a full length plastic amber beacon |
The support crane is mounted to the sade of the body and can be raised and rotated although the rotation is very stiff on the model reviewed here. The hook is connected to a fixed piece of rope and there is no functional winch on the model. |

The cab is an excellent casting with roof mounted chrome air horn, amber lights and a chromed sun visor. The self fit rear view mirrors need adding to the model and fit easily by inserting them into the holes in the cab frame. The opening engine compartment reveals a fully replicated engine block within, complete with silver exhaust piping, air filters, radiator and flexible cables. One nice touch is the rope engine cover straps which stop the engine cover from falling to far forward.

The underside of the model is as highly detailed as the rest with drive shaft to the rear axle, air tanks and replicated suspension.

The front wheels can be adjusted to steer left or right and the suspension of the front axle does depress a little which is another nice touch on the model. The silver exhaust from the engine is located below the chassis and flexible cables are also visible. |
The model is available in two limited edition colour combinations of White (150 pieces) and Red (150 pieces) whilst two company decorations of Kokosing (250 pieces) and ALL Erection (250 pieces) are also available. The model was released in July 2009
